Representative from Beyul will receive you at the airport and help with checking in at the hotel. That evening, we will have dinner together. During the dinner, you will be introduced to the guide, briefed about upcoming activities in details. However, dinner and an extra day in Kathmandu to feel better from jet lag depends on what time of the day you arrive in Kathandu.

Scenic and thrilling early morning flight to Lukla. Stop for coffee/breakfast in Lukla and get introduced to porters while they make their load ready. It's mostly downhill today all the way to Paiya, passing through beautiful forest and small hamlets/villages.

Like any hikes of Nepal, you will be ascending and descending today all the way to Pangom. Hiking in the forest becomes peaceful and enjoyable at this altitude because of the perfect temperature and humidity. You will have plenty of new things to observe while passing through villages and mountain sides.

After breakfast, a few hours of climbing will take you to Pangkongma La. This is the ridge that separates the Hinku Khola Valley and Dudh Kushi River Valley watersheds. You will be entering the Hinku River valley after passing few ridges with amazing Rhododendron forest. The rest of the trip, you will be in the same valley.

The first part of the day is steep climb to a point from where you will have incredible view of mountains. After that there's descend to near the river for lunch. And, then just follow the Hinku river with some elevation gain all the way to Kothe. Many of our clients love this place for good night rest.

We have finally reached the glacial valley of Hinku. There is no steep down hill just to have another steep uphill later. The hike today is gradual uphill. The tree-less valley widens up with furious Hinku khola on your right all along. You will be in Thangnak for lunch today. However, we will stop for tea and snack breaks in between.

After a gradual uphill hike for less than 5 hours, we will reach Khare for lunch. Lot of other companies prefer to rest for an extra day in Thangnak, but Beyul from past experiences likes to go ahead to Khare after a good night rest. First reason why we do this is, we arrived before lunch and been walking around acclimatizing; secondly, we might end up spending more than 2 nights at Khare waiting for the suitable weather window.

Apart from resting and short walks around the teahouse, an extra day in Khare is meant for learning how to use climbing gears, learn about safety procedures, among other climbing protocols. Our experienced climbing guide will lead all those activities. Also, we will check our climbing gears, clean them and make them ready for climbing the next day. You should also know in advance that sometimes we might have to wait at Khare for few days for perfect weather.

Weather forecast is good and you are feeling awesome means we are ready to hike to basecamp today. It is going to be a slow and difficult day today, specially because there is rock scrambling involved half of the trail and rest half is walking on the snow pack with your heavy climbing boots at an elevation of 5600 meters above sea level. You will be proud to see yourself up there. This the day when you have to sleep in a tent. But, you will be fed warm meal which is super amazing in this harsh environment. Most often our clients very much appreciate things that we do by going an extra mile and making sure that they are well taken care of.

Today, is the day that you have been preparing yourself physically and mentally. Challenging yourself a little bit, soaking in a little bit of discomfort/exhaustion and applying 'one-step-at-a-time' formula will eventually push you to the top of Mera Peak. It is 100% worth the 'whatever you had to deal with' to be here, at an astounding elevation of 6,476 meters from the sea level, with an incredible panoramic view of five of the 'Eight Thousanders' (out of 14 above 8,000 meter peaks). All in all, it's hard to describe the feeling of being there, unless you are there. It's AMAZING!! It is going to be a super early start this morning, not just because we like to be up there to witness the first sun-rays creating magic on those great mountains; but also to beat the bad weather that follows as the sun gets higher in the sky. As they say, Summit is only half-way of a Climb; we have to get back to Kothe safely. Don't forget that downhill is even challenging when you get tired and lack motivation of climbing. That's when accidents happen. That's when our guests need attention more than any other time. And, we are aware and trained to handle those situations.

Leaving Khare after breakfast and reach Kothe for late lunch. Spend a night here, since there is no any tea-houses in between he and Thulikharka.

After breakfast, we will follow a peaceful downhill trail among Birch, Rhodendron and Fir forest covered in moshes. After Chhatrwa Khola, where there are 2 small tea-houses that serve lunch, drinks and snacks for passerby; the trail climbs uphill inside the mixed forest of Rhodendron. The summer pasture of Thulikharka has few nice tea-house and is an amazing place to spend a night. The view and people from the tea-house are etched in my memory.

This the last major downhill and final day of the trip. After breakfast, we will climb less than 300 meters and rest of the day is downhill all the way to Lukla (2900 m). For the people who prefer uphill than downhill, it's not a good news. After crossing few snow patches on the west side of the pass, you will reach tree-line after which the trail becomes less steep and beautiful. You will have to bid farewell to your companions of the trip, who started after you and reached the destination before you every day. Without them, the trip of your lifetime would never be the same. Shout-out to those amazing people who we call porters, but they really are the backbone of the industry.

Mostly, a morning 30 minutes flight takes you to Kathmandu leaving crisp air of Lukla behind. Back in Kathmandu, relaxation awaits you; pampering your body with massages and good food to fill your soul. It fells totally reasonable to indulge after the challenging trek that you just finished. Do not forget to go for shopping and buy cute small things for your beloved ones back home waiting for you.

Realizing that in many instances travel plans doesn't work out perfectly in real life situation, we recommend to allocate a day or two to cope up with unforeseen circumstances. In the mountains, weather and health is not 100% predictable.
