Fishing is one of the very interesting sports for those who are tolerant enough. If you have enough time and patience then Angling or Fishing in Nepal could be a very interesting sport for you. Nepal is the world’s second-richest country in water resources including a number of rivers and lakes which offer fishing.
Anglers can try their luck in Nepal’s Bardia Wildlife reserves where we can organize guided fishing trips. There are some specific ethnic groups in the hills and the Terai region of Nepal whose lifestyle has been based on Fishing. Bote, Majhi, Tharu, and Machhuwar are some of them.
Approximately more than 185 species of exotic fish are dancing around the fresh Himalayan water, ranging from the much sought-after Mahseer to the mountain stream trout, catfish, Murrie, rainbow trout, common trout, and crap (the crap is the largest fish that can be of several kilos). It is an exciting and wonderful spot to hook out the colorful fish in the clear Himalayan Rivers.
The best season to go fishing on the white waters is before and after the monsoon from February till April and October and November. Nepal is a land of diverse topography, climate, ethnicity, and biodiversity. Within an average breadth of about 150 km, the altitude varies from 60 meters above sea level to the world’s highest peak Mount Sagarmatha scaling 8848 km it has three large river basins namely Koshi in the east, Narayani in the central, and Karnali in the west.
We specialize in mahseer fishing in far west Nepal, either based on our Safari lodge in Bardia National Park or through dedicated expeditions to remote rivers with our own expert rafting crew.

In the afternoon, head out on a dusk jeep safari to the National Park in search of elusive tigers and leopards. Tigers hunt in the cool of the day so dusk is a great time to catch a glimpse of the great cats patrolling their territories. The safari will last for two and a half hours. You will be accompanied by an experienced naturalist who will provide in-depth knowledge of the local fauna and flora of Bardia National Park. The evening will be spent with cocktails around an outdoor fireplace before moving into the GolGhar ( Nepalese dining room) for dinner. A good setting for late-night chats.
DAY 05 Jungle Day:
Wake up early and prepare for the day’s adventures with a hearty breakfast. Then strap on your walking boots, take a sturdy bamboo walking stick and prepare for a day of pure exploration and excitement! A premade lunch will be ready and refreshments to keep you going through the day. A Land Rover will take you to the National Park Entrance and into the very heart of the national park. Your day will be spent in the Land Rover and on foot scouting out the undergrowth for that elusive big cat. Walking down a jungle path enclosed by the Sal trees, listen out for the sounds of orioles and hornbills.
We will take you to one of the many “hides”, where patience is key, as you settled down with a cup of tea and wait for any movement, maybe a rhino, maybe a jungle cat… maybe something else! After the hide, jump back in the Land Rover and allow the guide to give you a tour of the parts of the jungle. See a varied range of not only different kinds of habitats but wildlife also. By now your finger will be worn out from all of the clicking and photo taking but keep it strong – early evening around dusk is a great time for spotting leopards and other big cats. Keep an eye out during your trip for the claw marks on trees left by tigers who were sharpening their claws and marking their territory. Stop for a drink from the cool box, and soak up the last of the rays bursting through the canopy as you head back to the lodge. This is the last chance to scan for a glimpse of a Sloth bear or Wild boar. Back at the lodge, kick off the walking boots, and put your feet up before dinner is served.
